My name is Philip Wright
I’m a retired school teacher and I have lived near Locke Park here in Kingstone with my wife Sue for 20 years. Like many of you I am tired of Labour taking us for granted.
So I have decided to stand for election to be your councillor for Kingstone ward, which also covers Town end and Worsbrough Common.
The Barnsley Lib Dems are the official opposition to Labour in the Town Hall. I have been inspired by what their councillors are doing in their wards and I hope to have the opportunity to achieve this here.
I'm proud to call Kingstone my home but I can’t take pride in what Labour are doing. I've seen our area change over the years and not for the better. Barnsley Labour are letting us down and taking us for granted.
Barnsley Labour Council are focusing too much on the Town Centre to the detriment of communities like ours. The council have no respect for our area.

This years election will be close between myself and the Labour candidate, so every vote will count.
A vote for me is a vote for a hard-working local campaigner who will always put this area first, be a strong local voice in the Town Hall and get the change you deserve.
With your support I know I can make a difference.
Please get in touch if there are any local issues I can help with or say hello if you see me around the area.

I recently delivered 5000 surveys across this area and id like to say thank you to everyone who completed and returned one either on line or by post.
Your responses were much appreciated, and I am pleased to report that I have now had the chance to review the results.
The most frequently cited issues included antisocial behavior at Locke Park and elsewhere, drug use and dealing, littering, and the poor behaviour of some landlords and tenants.
I have taken these concerns to heart and if elected I will make them my priorities.
I have been attending the " Police and community together” meetings and raising your issues directly with the police officers present.

A local man who wants the best for his community
